A 25-year-old Burin man is facing serious driving-related charges after a report of a speeding car losing control and hitting a light pole Saturday evening on the main road in Lewin's Cove on the Burin Peninsula.
Burin Peninsula District RCMP say the man suffered minor injuries but fled the scene of the accident prior to police officers arriving. He was located later and charged with impaired driving, refusal to provide a blood sample, dangerous driving, driving while suspended and with several breaches of court orders and another offence under the liquor control act.
He is scheduled to appear in provincial court in Grand Bank today.
