Former provincial cabinet minister Loyola Sullivan has scheduled a news conference for Tuesday morning to speak about his political future.

The wide speculation is that Sullivan, recently a Canadian fisheries ambassador, will announce his intention to run for the federal Conservatives in the May 2 election.

His press conference is set 11:30 a.m. at Hotel Mount Pearl.

Further to my earlier comment, Gerry Dunphy only proves my point. This district is now comprised of urban dwellers and not dependant on the fishery therefore we can't be bribed nor bought by the fishery.

Loyola Sullivan doesn't have a chance. He has done nothing for the people of this district other than turn his ack on us when we needed him: he ran from premier Williams to answer harper's call at a time when we had the upper hand on the equalization debate. Sinc the riding has no rural residents, he can't "buy" votes like those of fisherpeopl in his old district. Me thinks that Manning will win, Sulliovan will loose and if harper has control, Sullivan moves to the Senate. You are a traitor Loyola and I can't wait to see you get the message.

Good God. Wouldn't that give you a bad case of "the gas".!! Why can't those old dogs just go "lay down" and take a nap? Aren't there some up-and-coming bright young lights around to offer themselves or at least asked to consider themselves? Why must we have the "same old", "same old". Do those guys think they are God's gift to the natives? Sullivan and Manning ...... the return of the Jedi. Groan !!!!!!!!!
