Loyola Sullivan, former provincial finance minister and fisheries ambassador, announced this morning he will be carrying the Conservative banner in St. John’s-Mount Pearl in the federal election.
About 100 supporters were in attendance for Sullivan’s anticipated announcement at the Hotel Mount Pearl.
"I have a long history and a proven track record," Sullivan said.
Sullivan will be up against Liberal incumbent Siobhan Coady and NDP candidate Ryan Cleary.
Coady's win in the last election was partially credited to then-premier Danny Williams' "Anything But Conservative" campaign.
With three strong candidates, St. John's South-Mount Pearl is considered to be one of the most competitive ridings in the country.
