You can cast a vote for one of the four corners of the flat earth

FOGO ISLAND —  Adventure Central Newfoundland, the destination marketing organization for the Central region, has entered Brimstone Head, Fogo Island into’s quest to crown the “8th Wonder of the World.” Public voting is now open at, a leading travel research website and community that is part of TripAdvisor Media Group.

“We’re encouraging everyone to vote for Brimstone Head which is a unique rock formation located on shores of Fogo Island, and considered one of the four corners of the world according to the Flat Earth Society,” explains Peggy Hamilton, chair of Adventure Central Newfoundland. “We nominated Brimstone Head to not only draw attention to that great site, but to showcase the Central region of Newfoundland and Labrador as a world class tourism destination.”

With numerous Tourism Boards, Chambers of Commerce and Visitor Bureaus sending in a nomination, the public is asked to vote for their favorite out of the more than 200 submissions. Voters can visit to vote for Brimstone Head and have until Sept. 30 to do so. The wonder with the most votes will be crowned the winner. The winner will be featured in a national broadcast TV segment on a popular syndicated program as well as receive a massive media relations campaign push from VirtualTourist.
