The Celtic Myst was retrieved after being stolen from the Bay of Islands Yacht Club's facility at the Allen's Cove marina early Thursday morning.
The provincial Crown is opposing the release of a Corner Brook man who allegedly stole a sailboat this morning.
David Arthur Sharpe, 25, appeared in provincial court in Corner Brook this afternoon on two charges, theft over $5,000 and possession of break-in instruments. With the Crown in opposition to his release, a provincial court judge set his matter over to 9:30 a.m. Friday.
A date for a bail hearing could be set at that time.
Sharpe was charged after the Royal Newfoundland Constabulary responded to a report of a stolen sailboat from the Bay of Islands Yacht Club at 10 a.m. It is alleged that Sharpe was able to gain access to the vessel by cutting a lock with a pair of bolt cutters.
The sailboat was recovered in the Bay of Islands by the owner and returned to shore. Police say Sharpe was arrested on the scene without incident.
