A number of performers, including (l-r) Andrew Sharpe, Kristen and Allison Walsh, Emma Duke, Kayla Pittman, Wendy and Kasha Green helped out at a benefit fundraiser for Haley Wade, a young lady who has had numerous medical issues, many of which are now not fully covered anymore by her health insurance. She’s been travelling to Chicago for surgeries, and insurance will only pay for half of the costs. The fundraiser took place at the Placentia Bay Cultural Arts Centre, Placentia, on Saturday, June 29, 2013, at 7:30 p.m.

Scott O'Keefe and Darrell Duke entertained the gathering to help raise money to cover some of the medical costs for the young woman. Duke was one of the main organizers of the event, and wished to let people know they could still find out more about Haley on the Facebook page ‘Help for Haley’ and donations can still be made by either sending a cheque to Darrell Duke, 243 Marina Drive, Clarenville, NL, A5A 1M9, or by emailing a money transfer to darrellduke@live.ca. He also wanted to thank his mother Shirley Duke, daughters Kayla and Emma, the Town of Placentia for the space, and Rhonda Power and Michael Leonard, both of whom work at the arts centre. As Duke said, “It is important for us to help Haley, and anyone who truly needs help. And although she lives in another country, she is still part of our hometown and deserving of our love and attention.”
