Brian it would appear that FINALLY more and more people are seeing the real Danny Williams for the self centred arrogant manipulator he really is. I was in the House when he threw his little temper tantrum with Lorraine Michael. To witness that outburst by the premier of MY province was sickening to say the least. Then he casually schruggs off the mess HE created with the expropiation of the Grand Falls Mill. Its all ok because HE did it. Time to show Danny Castro Williams the door. Only problem there is how many sheep are still willing to follow happily behind the premier and do say and hear only what he wants them to do say and hear. As everyone should know by now I started this Stop the Racket thing a few Days after Trevor Taylor resigned when Danny referred to Politics as a Racket. Well Mr Premier you have taken that Racket to a new all time low. Gutter politics at its worst and all coming from you and your over inflated ego. RESIGN DANNY move to Florida with your rich buddies. Does John Risley have a condo near where you are? You two have so much in common both in your private and public lives. I will leave that to the imagination of the readers. Absolute power and controll thats Danny Williams and we gave it to him. Oh well we are all allowed to make a mistake and God knows we made one there. Only question that remains now is do we have the guts to correct that mistake and send Danny Williams packing once and for all.. I will awaite the insults and reply from the loyal worshipers. Bahhh!Bahhh! Bahhh!

Bert, Alberta has had a conservative government for 30 years. That's why their healthcare, and ours, is so poor.

Conservative governments back big business, not people.

Everybody seems to think that the doctors here are overworked and under -paid. Let these doctors move to Alberta where all is milk and honey and bring your patients with you. Try Grande Prairie where employment and big money go hand-in-hand. All patients bring a novel with you to the hospital because the miminum wait is 6 hours. Don't believe me check it out. This is the same for all of Alberta.
While you are living in Alberta check the roads and you will find that many that are not paved unlike NL. Also check on the snowplowing. The side roads in towns are not plowed. Only a month ago the Mayor of Calgary stated that side roads will not be plowed next year either.
We may not have been a have province for years but at least we did not set up a heritage fund instead of paving and plowing roads.
Check all the broken windshields in Alberta, Over 70 % of the windshields are broken!!!

The Premiere is being ridiculous and he can be, he has the resources to go to the States for his medical needs and not deal with the system here. If he did, he would realize how backward it is compared to other parts of the country.

NL'ers need to realize not everyone has the same idealized picture of NL they have. If you want the best you have to pay the most, this is especially true of doctors form different cultures, why would they come here where they have no cultural neighborhoods over a major city in which the community of (add culture or nationality here) have a base?

NL needs to encourage doctors from here to stay (help with costs to education for example), MUN needs to lead the way in some form of research (bring young doctors here because of opportunity for them) and invest way more money per capita (especially in rural areas) to bring this health system up with the rest of the country.

This article highlights the lack of understanding of people's needs by the provincial government.

Personality faults aside, Danny Williams has really blown any chance of a 'win-win' negotiation with our doctors. They are essential, and a responsible politician would have tried to find an affordable compromise rather than attempt to beat them into submission. His tactics will cost NL taxpayers dearly, and he has tainted NL as a desirable place for medical professionals to want to work. It's time that he put down the stick, and find innovative ways to ensure that doctors are fairly compensated with minimal impact on our treasury. Something tells me in his black and white, win or lose world, that will never be. Unfortunately, it is the patients that will bear the cost of this mistake.

It amazes me how the Speaker of the House can make a MHA leave the room for saying Deceitful but says nothing when the sacred beliefs of a former Nun is attacked in a religious fashion. What kind of fascist state are we living in?

Pretty low indeed, despicable even! The Danny Williams Crew are proficient bullies. No signs of having a grown up debate or disagreement in the house any time soon. Sad really...

I just heard Tom Marshall on the radio discussing the latest offer. He mentioned some of the salaries the docs are getting now, before the extra 80 million. Wow, is all I can say. Numbers like 750,000, 900,000, and 1.2 million a year were some of the salaries he quoted. There are doctors here in this province making over a million dollars a year! My God! What exactly do these guys want? How much is enough? The premier is not a bully, he is just a man who is trying to look out for the best interests of the province, and when he sees a group of people who make the kind of salaries mentioned above putting on the poor face he gets angry, I'm angry, everyone should be angry. Whoops, I forgot, we better be nice to the millionare doctors, or they will all go to the mainland. Give me a break! People in NL treat doctors the way we used to treat priests before the sex scandal, they can do no wrong, they should never be questioned, they should be put on a dias and are to be worshipped. Enjoy your new found wealth docs, I guess you deserve it.

As a Newfoundlander who was away for years, I too had respect for what I thought was a great leader. Yes, he is a good negotiator with big corporations.

But Danny Williams is a businessman. Businessmen love money. If you lived here now, you would see the things that we used to HAVE (Healthcare, clean drinking water, etc) are gone and we continue to FIX the mess that big corporations have made, even though they are still here.

Once I found out what is not being reported, I became very upset and if there were a brain among half the Williams supporters, he would have to retire because he would never win another election.

Does the premier seem more angry than usual ? Is he suffering from a hair-trigger temper . Something just doesn't seem right , did he sustain some sort of damage while under anaesthesia ?
