Lahey could be sentenced to a life of prayer and penance in a monastery, which in a sense would be house arrest. Some would say this would be to shelter him, but it is not. If they kicked him out of the Priesthood all together he would be free to use the internet or go to the playground to watch children as the Church would have no control of him. If they demote him to the status of a monk, the Church can control him lock him away and protect society from him much like a jail controls the inmate and protects society. The Protestants just kicking someone one puts them on the street to abuse again. I would rather know that a rogue Catholic Priest is locked away for good in a monastery after he serves his civil jail time rather than seeing a rogue Anglican Minster, Pentecostal Pastor, or Salvation Army Officer roaming the streets.

Good Job Catholic Church???????? If the Catholics had stopped it soooooo many years ago,,, there wouldn't be so many of them out there. They just kept moving them around as not to destroying their :"Good and Holy name", meanwhile, we have layer upon layer of victims without a life. What a price to pay for their name and all the money they took from the people they were "leading" down the garden path. Lahey and the rest of them should spend a lifetime in jail and take it like a man,,, same way the children had too.

Truth is the very hallmark of the religion of Christ but is conspicuously absent in the RCC and in its' place there is found lies, deceit and cover up in matters of the most solemn nature. The global scale of unbridled and unchecked corruption in the Roman Catholic church brought to light in our day of the widespread sexual abuse of children by RC clerics, along with horrific revelations of decades of institutionalized child abuse, aggravated by a reckless and careless policy deliberately adopted by the RC hierarchy in addressing these issues which placed the reputation of their church above that of the welfare of children is ample evidence that truth is a virtue preached but not practiced by the so-called “princes of the church” of Rome. How many children were put at risk at being sexually abused by a priest . . a trusted minister of God, which Baltimore’s former archbishop, Cardinal William Keeler described as “soul murder”, for the sake of Roman Catholicism’s image and reputation is impossible to gauge and GOD only knows. The oaths of secrecy taken by RC priests, bishops and cardinals, required under RC Canon law that relegate these matters to internal church affairs implemented with a view to avoiding SCANDAL to the “church”, are still in force. The scandalous conduct and actions that proceed from such ungodly policies are wholly inconsistent with Christian principles of honesty, transparency and integrity and cannot be reconciled with those who profess Christ. SECRECY and COVER UP are the defining characteristics of the RC “church” but such is not the spirit of those who profess to be Christians! “For the fruit of the Spirit is in all goodness and righteousness and truth;” (Eph. 5:9) Many have concluded that the RCC is irreformable and the mass exodus out of her pews by the formerly faithful persists! Those truly “tethered to the truth” and guided by the Holy Spirit are compelled to leave.” (John 14:16-17; 16:13) Roman Catholicism is not Christ's Church!

"It's something we take seriously. ... The church responds very quickly to act as best it can." Archbishop Colin R. Johnson, who is responsible for the diocese of Toronto, told The Telegram, "In a disciplinary case, a bishop who has oversight of a cleric has a range of penalties he or she can impose depending on the severity of an offence, ranging from private admonition to deposition." "Bad boy. Bad, bad boy!"
