Peter, actually, my Christian Bible tells me , in the words of Christ Himself, thaat if a person repents with his/her last breath by professing their faith in God and in Jesus Christ as Saviour and Lord, that person is saved by the grace of God, who through Christ, by the power of the Holy Spirit can do so. Although people are encouraged to repent now, so that God can use the Christian servant of God to do God's work on earth (God works both in and through Christian servants to do God's work) we cannot earn our way into Heaven. Our place in Heaven is given by a gracuois and loving God, whose will is that all people on earth, all people on earth are considered by God to be God's children, might by God's Grace because of their faith in God, might have peace of soul in this world and eternal spiritual life in the next. Try reading the parable of the labourers in the vineyard for clarification (Matthew 20: 1-16

I don't know what "sages" tell us to repent one day before we die, but it's not in the Christian Bible. The Bible tells us to repent now, long before we die.

You missed the point completely. The sage says "repent one day before you die"; most of us don't know when that day is, so what he is in essence saying is to repent every day...
