Safety issues should not be discussed as a way to affect our budget deliberations. It leads to bad decisions(cameras at every intersection) for the wrong reasons. The signage in this city is terrible. The lights are simply uncoordinated and the roads are treacherous, especially in winter. There are far too many important safety issues which should be addressed before we start looking for a way to make a few bucks from people who make mistakes because of poor road infrastructure.

St. John's and Mount Pearl need cameras at intersections. If you could give a ticket to every driver that runs a red light in these cities, the provincial budget would be balanced in a matter of days.
