Please go to Alberta and do your business there, you're clearly a cell of the cancer that is plaguing this province and not letting anyone else get ahead. Unskilled workers can make more money in Alberta than more profitable companies here are willing to pay them. You have no idea what it's like to try and pay rent and tuition and still be fed, transported and warm. Go away from this island, we already have enough greed.

"....Newfoundland’s jobless rate is still a bit high — hovering around 12 per cent....." Does everyone else in St. John's relish the aroma of their Hibernia-nourished turds as the Telly editors do? If you can stop sniffing for a minitre, there might be a worthwhile story to tell about one place rolling in money while their neighbours starve to death....

Of course it has a low jobless rate, too bad everyone is making minimum wage or barely above. If there's so many jobs here and it's so hard for owners to find workers that they have to fly in foreign workers to work their minimum wage jobs, why aren't the ones that are employed making more money to combat the rising fuel, food and rent? Oh wait I guess I answered my own question already. Foreign workers. I guess it's ten bucks/hr or Alberta after all.

perhaps those not making minimum wage do not have any skills or education that justifies paying them more? All of the companies that I have in newfoundland pay minimum wage to front line workers. I can certainly afford to pay more, but I don't because the workers do unskilled work? why would I pay them more when I know they are not capable of earning more elsewhere? it is ten buck/hr or Alberta for the unskilled and uneducated....not for everyone.

Take the minimum wage job stats our of our unemployment rate and you will find that St. John's will have a considerably higher jobless rate! That is nothing to be proud of!!
