Some newspaper comments are quite right. The Liberals have a Leader, and he is the one that should be making decisions and announcements about extending an invitation to anyone. If Macdonald and others think they are potential candidates for the post, then they should get off the Renewal Committe and make it a level playing field. The Liberal party could be heading for disaster, not renewal if they do not soon take control of this issue.

My Mother had a phrase she used to say to us when something was awful and someone was given the unenviable job to fix it. "Try to make a silk purse out of a pig's ear.' she would say. There is so much rebuilding to be done to save the Liberal party and it will take many years to accomplish. I guess the question Dean MacDonald has to weigh is if he is in it for the long haul because he won't be able to get them back to credibility by the time the next provincial election happens.

The Liberal Party of NL is advertising their renewal meeting in Corner Brook with the statement "With Special Guest Dean MacDonald" They have done the same when Siobhan Coady showed up to a meeting. But, if you are selected by your own party to be the co-chairs of your rebuilding group, are you a "SPECIAL GUEST" at your own meeting??? Your are the host, the masters of ceremony, the moderators - whatever. You are not the special guest at your own meeting. Frankly, all 3 co-chairs would attend all the public meetings if they were sincere about rebuilding the party.

The question is, who will Danny endorse in the next election. That's who will get elected.

Yeah because that worked out so well last time. I would'nt vote for Danny or anyone he wanted. Including Dean MacDonald. Danny just needs to go away.

There was a good comment in the Saturday paper's article about Dean MacDonald. It went something like: just because you worked for Danny Williams does not mean you are anything like Danny Williams. Mr. MacDonald's only claim to fame is he rode Danny Williams' coattails so far. That is not a leader, that is only the paid help.

do a search for Dean MacDonald on the internet and you will be surprised to know that he has accomplished far more than just "riding Danny's coat tails".

  • Please Turn off your Auto-Pilot Newfoundlanders and Labradorians, as an electorate, and be less complacent over the manner you allow your politicos to govern your province.

The template for how politics would play out in the province of Newfoundland and Labrador has been touted openly for the better part of a decade now. Are we going to allow the last third of that template to take charge of our province after observing the possible devastation that is going on with regards to the Muskrat Falls Project? If so, that would not only be classified as STUPID but also CORRUPT for us the electorate to allow politics to be run in such a manner in our province. We have to become less complacent by turning off the Automatic Pilot, then start the process of assuring by being observant that we receive good governance over our natural resource development and distribution and the right for our people to live in a solvent province with a great economy.

Mr. MacDonald might think he is going to be another savior as people thought Mr. Tobin or Mr. Williams were going to be. Mr. MacDonald should either announce his intention to run for the Liberal/Conservative leadership or the media should stop quoting him everythime he opens his mouth.

Last time I looked MacDonald was Co-Chair of the Liberal Renewal Committee so I would think him reaching out to Osbourne a reasonable comment. Likewise he has stated that it would be inappropriate to declare his intentions will the renewal tour was still on going. Seems reasonable.
