There is no force of energy cleaner, more reliable, when developed, that can be used to generate power, that would be more cleaner, more reliable, more dependable, Than by using the power produced by the force of water flowing over a falls that would be used to turn the turbines of a generating plant, it would turn the power plant at no cost once its built for ever, no depending on oil,or waiting for the wind to blow, it will wear out many turbines, and operate for ever, for as long as water runs and grass grows, once its built and the power lines are in place it will operate for ever, there will always be a demand for clean safe power, Canada has 9 atomic power plants like the latest one that blew up in ? I think Japan a couple of years ago, There is one in Quebec.

Mr. Hefford, most of what you say is correct. But there is the issue of mercury leaching into the water, and you avoid the issue of cost. Energy Efficiency is 1/3 or less the cost of new hydro that is a thousand miles away and 4 times bigger than our island needs. And for existing hydro on the island, we are wasting more than 50 percent of that used for heating and hot water because of inefficient technology. Efficient use extends our present source by decades and would allow a large reduction of Holyrood oil use. The programs cited take advantage of this, and we can do likewise.

What does John Smith think of energy efficiency instead of Muskrat falls?
