Why does God allow people to be killed by drunk drivers? The real question is, how can God stop it?
A drunk driver is out to a bar or a friend’s place having a good time. For some, this means drinking alcohol and then driving home.
So, how is God going to prevent the driver from getting drunk and having that accident? God would have to interfere with that driver’s freedom to drink, any way he wants.
I don’t think anyone wants God telling us what to do, right? But in order for God to prevent an accident from happening He would have had to prevent that person from drinking or from driving which would mean He would have had to interfere with that person’s right to freedom of choice — something God gave us in the first place. This situation can apply to almost any other situation that causes injury or death. For instance, what if the drunk driver was a young family man and he was killed or injured? His family would suffer the consequence.
God doesn’t cause the evil that exists in the world; He just allows it because He gave us the freedom to make our own choices.
We have to live with the results, whether good or bad.
