Why is there even a need to raise animals in this way? There is no reason for any animal to suffer for the sake of fashion. They are not being used for food but only for their pelts. These animals are being treated in a cruel and inhumane manner. How can we make it stop?

"...aim for an objective assessment of fur farming, and not simply fall victim to industry hype." Yeah, the telegram should only publish the anti-fur rhetoric and hype.

Check stats Canada website for fur production by province. While the EU bans seal products they lead the world in fur farms. 60 million mink killed annually. That's just one species. The industry generates billions , employs thousands and is important for rural European economies. Perhaps the Canadian fur farmers need to take a page out of EU standards....all issues must have been addressed in the EU fur industry right?
