I went for my second visit recently, to say goodbye to the breathtaking, retrospective art show at The Rooms by our own Mary Pratt. The exhibition ended on Sunday.
It was a once in a lifetime opportunity to see, feel, think about and be provoked by the work of an honourable woman and most gifted artist.
From the powerful and emotionally naked portraits of the defiant "Donna," to the beauty of light, and raw and prepared food we so oft take for granted, Pratt demands that you no longer take these gifts in your own life for granted, or not see the beauty of and therein. All perfect and not, at the same time.
Pratt has given us and the world, much in her life's work (not done yet, I hope), and has paid a personal price for that life's work, as she bluntly tells you in the video interview at the end of the show.
It was a most enlightening show of work, art and this woman's spirit.
Thank you, Mary Pratt.
