I write in response to the letter entitled “Please hold,” written by Jeannie Baldwin and published in The Telegram on Sept. 28.
I would like to correct the record. No employees in the Bathurst, N.B., employment insurance call centre have had their hours reduced. They will continue to work full-time.
Furthermore, significant progress has been made to improve EI processing times.
During peak periods, to meet increased workload, processing capacity is increased through a variety of means such as shifting some part-time employees to full-time status to provide additional support and increasing the use of overtime.
Service Canada remains committed to further improving call centre response times and EI processing to better serve Canadians.
