Mudville and the media

I guess there is much joy in your Mudville now that Kathy Dunderdale has resigned.

I hope you have the good grace to not flatter yourselves, especially your Brian Jones and Russell Wangersky, scribes who would presume to tell us how they think the province should be run.

No, what happened here is no credit to your press, it is just that the real culprit is the ignorance of the social media of Newfoundlanders.

It reeks of ignorance and lack of education.

Tiny-minded people, too lazy to study the real issues before spewing their poison among the populace.

Lucky for you, all you have to do is troll this pond of scum, dress it up as editorial work and, once again, the ignorami among us, who read the ever-thinning pages of your paper, are sufficiently duped by your counterfeit journalism.

David, you are right on the money. The media have been in the hinterland since Kathy stepped down. Even poor Brian Jones is reduced to commenting on the state of weather forecasting rather than his favourite sport of lambasting the premier. I guess Geoff Meeker is fine with caller after caller on Open Whine calling for the evisceration of the former premier but anyone with a different opinion than his is a government hack. Just shows his lack of reason and intelligence.

If the PC's were not too busy reading their own carefully worded arrigant self praising news releases with their rose coloured glasses on, they may have read the media to see how the rest us saw the silk purse vision which they had of themselves.

David Murphy is a regular on the open line shows. He constantly praises the PCs with such affection that it's embarrassing to listen, and has never said a kind word about the other parties. It's always bitter, mean-spirited attack. Murphy is a partisan hack whose drivel should be roundly ignored.

The polls and general populace agree wholeheartedly with the much deserved lambasting the Pitiful-Pompus-Panicking PC's have been getting. They treat the people with contempt and lick the boots of big business. BILL 29, Burton Winters, Cuts, Cuts, Cuts to essential services like Justice, Education and Health. The fault is not with the media, it's not in the stars, it's directly because the PC's are Deaf, Dumb and Blind to public opinion to an outrageous extent.

How succinct!.........Messers. Wangersky and Jones fancy themselves as a latter day Ray Guy driving the Despot Smallwood from power. Gentlemen, neither of you is a Ray Guy!....Mr. Wangersky never bothered to do a column on one of the most significant political stories of 2013, that being the self-inflicted implosion of the NDP. Makes one question the fairness and balance which should be associated newspaper editorials. Maybe there was an underlying reason for his reticence aside from the lack of paper space.

Quite right. Journalism has now become sensationalism....things are just not what they were in the past. The facts now are not simply reported but also interpreted for the masses.

Well, David, I wonder if you'll be thanking Kathy when you get your Muskrat Falls electricity bill in 2017?
