Having read in your pages a few days ago the letter to the editor about the person with no blue zone permit hogging two blue zone parking spots, may I add my own recent experience?
One day this week, just before one o’clock, there was a young woman in a red Chevrolet in the blue zone nearest the door of Sobeys on Kelsey Drive and no, she had no blue zone parking permit.
I knocked on her car window, taking her away from her smart phone, and pointed out the problem.
She was just waiting, she said.
I pointed out that even though she was just waiting she was still using the spot without a permit.
But she wouldn’t be there if all the other blue zone spots hadn’t happened to be empty, she said.
I pointed out that she was in the one closest to the door and to some disabled people, 10 feet can make a difference, especially in snow and ice and wind and hail, which we were experiencing at that particular moment.
Disgruntled and ungracious, and taking her own good time about it, she moved — and parked right in front of the grocery store’s front doors in a fire lane.
It must be nice to be that important.
