Snowfall and roads

The amount of snow that we are getting is contributing to a large scale issue involving parking. People tend to park on the sides of the street, and since there are snow banks on the sides of the roads, those people still park there, causing trouble for everyone else.

When there are people parked on the sides of the road during a snowfall and plows need to clear the roads, the plows are unable to do their job correctly. This causes the snowbank to temporarily reach even farther out from the sides of the road and causing the roads to narrow, making it very hard to drive around them in busy areas.

The location where those people park can also cause a great ordeal for the other drivers. Some people park just before blind corners and on the top of blind hills, causing even more of a vision impairment and even more of a risk of getting into an accident.

Parking on the sides of the roads in areas that are really congested and have narrow roads already will cause traffic delays, which will cause some drivers to get impatient and try to take right-of-way causing an accident, which will just end up in more of a pile-up.

From causing issues for snow clearing, to causing accidents because of carelessness, the way that people park in the winter can be catastrophic for themselves and other drivers.

Obviously there are some people that do not have driveways and have to park on the sides of the streets, but not every single car needs to be parked on the street causing issues for every other driver.

Many times when I get home after work, I find my driveway blocked by whatever snow has fallen since I left for work in the morning plus what ever the snowplow piles up. This requires me to park my vehicle on the side of the road until I am able to clear the driveway, which may take a fair bit of time. I guess the point I'm attempting to make is that street parking at times is unavoidable.

Police need to be enforcing the parking laws we have in place. I'm sick of the stupid crap the people in this city get away with.... I'm rotted.

Just maybe if the street are clogged, these speed demons would have to slow down a little. Hint its not SUMMER!

Michael is 100%. It's wicked and some people think that they can obstruct traffic by parking across from another car so that the only room between the cars is minimal at best and what was once a two lane road is now one. Suprised that somebody hasn't been killed.
