So, Bill Barry thinks the race for leadership and with it, the opportunity to be premier, if only for a short time, was just a sham?
Bill Barry is the sham!
One offers for leadership if one wishes to serve the people.
If he wanted to lead, he shouldn’t have burst out of the gate with a condemnation of his party’s elected members ... and he shouldn’t have quit the race.
A good party man would stay in the race, to give the illusion of a contest, at least. He would then throw his support behind the eventual winner.
By so doing he would be almost guaranteed a cabinet post. Did Bill Barry want to serve the people as an MHA or a cabinet minister?
Mr. Barry wanted to be the premier or nothing.
At least he had the decency to show his hand now, so that the people will be forewarned if he ever offers to “serve” again.
