Treason or reason?

Edifice complex was the charge.

They spoke out about the ill-guided proposition to build chocolate and rubber boot factories and were labelled as imbeciles with no foresight.

They then advised extreme caution in the building of the Come by Chance oil refinery. Ignoramus backstabbers was the response.

When Churchill Falls came along the lure of so many jobs and biblical proportion construction provided self-censure. Most were onboard, with the notable exception of Ray Guy.

Relentlessly mining the hubris while exposing the dogma, he kept us amused with references to the Town of Mary and helicopters full of wise men ascending into the heavens and the flooded Smallwood Reservoir being bigger than the Sea of Galilee.

When the sorry scheme of the Labrador linerboard mill in Stephenville was being negotiated and built, the naysayers who questioned competition and wood supply were characterized as unwitting fools.

When it was suggested that the Sprung greenhouse emperor had no clothes, or markets, the contrarians were lambasted as non-technical, business Neanderthals.

And now those brave few who continue to keep the feet of Muskrat Falls proponents and developers to the fire have been labelled with opprobrium and “treason” by one of our literary wags not normally disposed to moments of gravitas.

In the free world, those who provide non-existing, free of charge analysis and insight at considerable personal risk should be lauded, not demonized.

If their objective observations in search of the truth cannot be firmly negated by the nanny state spin campaign perpetuated by government and Nalcor, alarm bells should be ringing.

To quote Edmund Burke, “All that is necessary for evil to triumph is for good men to do nothing.” And it was Winston Churchill who said it takes courage to stand up and speak but also to sit down and listen.

Wish I could write as well as TF..what a nice penmanship. Very good points from him. Here is my point: Linking Upper Churchill transmission lines to NFLD and then to NS is more important than the Muskrat project and yet none of the so called "experts" are even talking about it. Why?

We have been so had on this deal. The special interests are laughing and getting away with this debacle.

Too bad Hawco conveniently misses the personal attacks on those that support MF.

Yes Coin, and every one would be justified. Muskrat Falls is just plain nuts! How could we be so frikkin' stupid all over again?

And just like that, Dolf undermines TF's point.

Depends how one interprets Coin's comment.
