I enjoyed Josh Pennell’s “Drinking the Regatta Kool-Aid” article (The Telegram, Aug. 7).
I rarely go to the Regatta anymore, but when we were kids, it was an annual “event” to go there with our parents. The essential Regatta experience was meeting people. Neighbours. People you hadn’t seen for a while. Relatives who scheduled their occasional visits home to coincide with the Regatta. People you’d never met before.
Reading Josh Pennell’s article, I get the sense that’s exactly the experience he had at the 2014 Regatta.
