I write concerning the article “The fine print,” Feb. 20.
Having read the above noted article in The Telegram, I was both amused and concerned over the report of our demise.
While your reporter quotes his interviewee as saying that “Dicks and Co., been there forever, gone out of business,” a simple fact check would have confirmed to your readership what 65 employees, and our customers already know — that we are alive and well, thank you.
When presented with the facts, one might observe that part of the longevity and success of this well established company, which marks its beginnings in 1840, is due to the acumen of the owners and staff over the years.
These Newfoundlanders made strategic decisions to enter and exit various markets over time, from manufacturing canvas sails and ledger books, over a century ago, to the more recent decision to transition from traditional printing presses to the digital printing services offered in house at present.
In 2015 we will celebrate our 175th year in business.
Contrary to what was reported, our office products business segments continue to prosper and I personally look forward to marking the beginning of the next 175 years and whatever business opportunities that the future might bring.
