Letters to the editor -
I recently returned from St. John's (my second visit there) where I stayed with friends who live close to Bowring Park.
Thanks to Mischief, our hosts' resident golden lab, we enjoyed early morning walks through this lovely historic park.
Kudos to the park wardens who look after it so lovingly and to the taxpayers and donors who value its worth, both the built-up section and the wild section where nature inspires and energizes.
Shame, however, on the hoodlums (presumably young males fond of their ale) who, every evening, throw cycles or wooden barriers or other objects into the river and upturn the picnic tables and garbage cans, not to mention the beer bottles that they break in the process.
They are the only blot in a wonderful city where the inhabitants are friendly and nature is bountiful.
