Giving the wrong impression

I am puzzled by the caption you gave to the photo (July 5) of a C.B.S.  farmer  cultivating his vegetable garden.

Why describe it as “Dirty work”?

There’s nothing to indicate clouds of soot in the air, or that he is plowing under thousands of cod heads.

Is there some wit or subtlety in the caption that I am missing?

Bill, ooops! sorry.....William, I agree. I, too, think you are just a tad over-sensitive this morning, with your rejection of the broad descript that farm work, generally speaking, is a profession for which you might be well advised not to worry about being `dressed to the nines` as you head out to spend a `day in the fields`. Really Bill, I can`t begin to think that you dress to the`9`s as you go into the fields each day...perhaps you are on the òffice`end of things!!! The agricultural industry is very important industry, at any level, no need to be defensive about it...the `hands on piece` of that work can be, usually is dirty work. That`s not a `put-down`, it`s a compliment. Your profession, indeed, is a very grounded profession, dependènt on your skills and passion for quality production. Be proud of that...not defensive, is my best wish for you. Be happy in your work...you`ve been complimented, not disgraced.

A little sensitive are we? Of course farming is dirty work because people who are "afraid to get their hands dirty" won't do it. I am surprised The Telegram even published this letter and put it online too.
