The Port Authority is a profit making corporation. Would City Council approe a grant to build a fence around anybody else's business? No, they would not. Why are they doing it for the Port Authority? Let the Port Authority spend its own money to replace its infrastructure.

This situation is merely a reflection on how Council conducts business. Many new developments, often poorly designed, are sanctioned at closed meetings. The only point of view heard is that of the proponent.. By the time the general public hears about them, it's too late to provide any meaningful commentary. Sometimes there's a public meeting, with the main focus being crowd control, and it you speak out, you're shut down. In this case, it doesn't really matter what Transport Canada says. Its most recent communication is only an annoyance to Doc and Hanrahan who want their fence, come hell or high water. At the end of the day, they'll get their fence. We, saps that we are, will pay for it.
