Early in December, I wrote this newspaper requesting information on the Newfoundland Railway and its stations. I also requested the names of the various wireless stations on the island in the ’20s and ’30s.
I soon began to receive replies and advice from many people.
They were all very helpful and I tried to acknowledge each one. Some took the trouble to contact me several times with follow up messages. I am most grateful to all of you and if I overlooked anyone, please accept my best thanks for your efforts.
I write (for no pay) occasional articles for the Morse Telegraph Club magazine “Dots and Dashes,” most of whose members are ex-railroad operators but some of whom are ex-ship operators.
I am sure they might like to hear from you about your years either as operators or descendants of telegraph and railroad men and women. Their address is on-line and Jim Wilson is their editor, at 2742 Southern Hills Court, North Garden, Virginia U.S.A., or ddeditor@hotmail.com.
Again my thanks to all and I am still looking for the wireless stations on the Island. If you have any queries, do contact me at pnkelly@shaw.ca.
