Kudos to the new system

There was some criticism when “airport-style” parking was introduced at the Health Sciences Centre.

Over the past week, I’ve used the system two or three times a day and find it a great improvement.

True, there are occasional lineups, but these soon dissipate, and anyone wishing to avoid lining up may pay their ticket in the hospital foyer and leave through the “no cash” exit, where I haven’t seen anybody waiting. Also, when entering, the length of the exit line is a useful indication of the space available.

The biggest advantage to me is financial. Since times to complete a treatment, etc., within the hospital vary, it was necessary to load up the meter in anticipation. There were parking credit cards, but sometimes these didn’t work. So where once I would put $4 in the machine, now I pay $1.75 on leaving.

I estimate over the past week, I’ve saved around $40. Perhaps the parking authority is losing money — better not tell them!

There are advocates for free parking, however it doesn’t take much imagination to see what would happen considering the shortage of student parking at MUN just across the road.

As the years advance so does my experience as a patient, having had six events requiring a “stay.” I have lived in other countries, and have relatives and friends in the U.S. and U.K.

In my opinion, the health services in Newfoundland are second to none, and

I am very grateful for the attentions of a highly professional and caring staff.

Dennis offered....."In my opinion, the health services in this province are , second to none", I totally agree. We could use a few more MDs, but I have had no complaints about actual services rendered...entire staff ---- FANTASTIC. THANK YOU.
