The Victoria Park Lantern Festival is a public volunteer-driven project taking place every year at Victoria Park in St. John’s. Leading up to the festival are a couple of months of lantern building workshops open to the public which result in a sea of colourful and whimsical bamboo lanterns in all shapes, sizes and theme motifs as well as a river of glass jar lanterns running through the park grounds. The Telegram stopped by the park Saturday during preparations for dusk that evening when the park would be transformed by glowing lanterns. Photos and text by Rhonda Hayward
