Igor causes washouts, flooding and states of emergency
(NOTE: this photo slideshow was posted to The Telegram website as hurricane Igor pounded areas of the province on Sept. 21, 2010): Hurricane Igor is making his presence known along the south and east coasts of the province. There are a number of states of emergency on the Burin and Bonavista peninsulas, as well as in the Clarenville area. There are reports of some people on the Burin Peninsula being evacuated from their homes by boat. Road washouts, flooded out areas, and heavy rains and high seas are being reported in many areas.
