Canadian Coast Guard - 50 years young

The Canadian Coast Guard held a family fun day at Cape Spear Saturday to help celebrate its 50th aniversary. The fun day featured demonstrations of knot tying, morse code instruction, face painting, tattoos and a special sketching and painting tutorial by artist Les Noseworthy. People of all ages were able to try out the different acitivies and learn about the history of the coast guard since it was established on Jan. 26, 1962. The anniversary is being celebrated across the country. Photos and text by Keith Gosse/The Telegram
