Remote airplane crash site near Stephenville

An American Overseas Airlines DC-4 crashed into a remote mountain outside Stephenville Oct. 3, 1946. Thirty-nine people were lost, many of them women and children. The Historic Aviation Committee is trying to ensure a memorial on top of the mountain is maintained. The group is also trying to get the crash site declared a provincial archeological site and member Dave Hebbard is producing a documentary. The following images are courtesy of him.
