Rooting for Health is a special initiative to help school children recognize the relationship between farming, food and health. An event was held at Paradise Elementary on Karwood Drive in Paradise Wednesday morning, March 13, 2013. Education Minister Clyde Jackman and Minister of Transportation and Works Paul Davis helped serve up pancakes, berries and syrup, and milk. Volunteers, members of the Kids Eat Smart Foundation, the School Milk Foundation and local farmers attended the school providing students with nutrition facts and information about the agricultural tradition of the province. The main goals of Rooting for Health are to highlight the connection between local farms and healthy eating, and highlight the importance of having a healthy meal to start the day. — Photos by Glen Whiffen/The Telegram
