Telegram photographer Keith Gosse was taking pictures of a bald eagle on the Cuckholds Cove trail near Signal Hill when a seagull started diving at the eagle as it sat in a tree close to the seagull's nest. The eagle had left it's own nest nearby, maybe looking for easy pickings of a seagull chick to bring back for lunch to its lone baby eagle.

    Nice photos, Keith! Maybe some knowledgeable ornithologist could comment on the gull's seemingly foolhardy aggression? If you look carefully at the close-up shot of the eaglet in the eyrie, just behind it you can see a mass of white feathers. Remnants of a prior aggressor perhaps?
