Neil: In the AHL where the luxury of chartered flights isn't an option, travel is always an issue. In the first round where it is best 3 out of 5, if the teams are more than 500km apart, they play 2-3 as opposed to 2-2-1, and the higher seeded team, in this case the Icecaps, has the choice of starting with 2 games at home, or 2 games away. There was an article last which were Stanford explained that they opted to start on the road, which then gives them home ice advantage for a possible game 5. The only way to play game 5 at home was to start the series on the road.

Studdering down the stretch. Caps aren't coming out of this series. You read it here first. Crunch take the series.

You'd think that the 2nd place team in the east would host the first three games instead of playing the first two on the road. Doesn't make sense to me....Anyone care to explain????
