Hey beddy hate to burst your bubble but the CHL doesn't hold a candle to he AHL. Use some common sense bud, we watched Zack Obrien a 100 point CHL player enter the AHL last year and struggle to keep pace and play with larger grown men. We watched mark scheifele enter the AHL and not record a single goal, yet rip it up in junior. Give your head a shake. You must be a parent of a CHL player or a bitter fog devils fan.

Hey Mark! Just a fan of the game here, thats all. Oh, I guess you watched all of Zah O'Brien's one (1) game played at the AHL level;quite the struggle. Annnnnd, Scheifle...0 reg. season games and 10 playoff games- quite the spectrum for your scouting report! Don't get me wrong, the AHL is a great league with some skilled player and it's soaked in History, but the OHL and NCAA has faster, more skilled players. But it's problem is that it has such a mix & match of players that the finished product is not the best hockey to watch. I know that having the AHL in NFLD is a 'medium size fish in a small lake' setting.. Growing up back home I wish I could have taken in Baby Leafs games. But if you get a chance to watch some meaningful CHL games (not like the one that was mis-managed in NFLD) or NCAA games live, please do..you will enjoy faster, skillful hockey where players are playing to get scouted. Whereas the majority of AHL'ers know they're moreless stuck there (i.e King, Festerling, Sawada). All the best! Enjoy the Ice Caps season, they should have a great one!

Interesting to see the different philosophies of these teams. Rochester is giving jobs to younger players who may have an NHL future. IceCaps are welcoming old guys who are over-the-hill and have no NHL future. That's great for fans in St.John's, as it should mean a stronger IceCaps team, but I don't know what the Jets are thinking adding guys like Sutherby.

The Jets sent every player that they had an option to send to St.John's. It's not a plan to only have vets, but not all players can be optioned to the AHL. Burmistrov was the only Jets regular that could be sent, while players like Gagnon, Postma, Machacek, were all sent to AHL as well.

Icecaps have quiet the team on paper. They very well could challenge WBS and Hershey for the eastern title. With no NHL this league becomes the number one league in North America to watch (for hockey). Very thankful to be so lucky to live in a hometown of one of those teams. Bring on the 19th. Go Caps Go

Ron, hate to burst your bubble but the #1 league in North America is the CHL and then it's the NCAA. With all of the young talent/potential Calder Candidates being held back in those leagues, it will be, and is, incredible to watch! AHL is a good league but nothing like the younger, faster game of the Jr's and collegiate ranks
