It is an interesting quirk of modern society that professional athletes make millions of dollars to play a game. Imagine getting paid 6 figures for chasing a piece of rubber around a rink. Their contribution to society is entertainment only and is nothing substantial or meaningful and yet their salary is many times that of everyone else. Their actual value is well out of proportion compared with their monetary compensation.

Don't care if it ever returns, the ahl is enough hockey for me. I'm a long time NHL fan, I've been a Detroit fan since the early 70's, but I'm officially done now. Ahl is good enough for me. Responsibly priced and reasonable salaries.
