The worlds being hosted in St. John's, NL is truly something special. A great deal of effort and organization has gone into the planning of this great event. However, as a long time player and member of the NL ball hockey scene I would have to say that the NL Ball Hockey association should focus more on building the game at home, right here in St. John's. While I walk the halls of Jack Byrne arena this week I see old faces from ball hockey NL coming out of the shadows to take recognition for the survival of ball hockey in NL. While I commend these men/women for putting together one of the biggest ball hockey events in the world, I have to scratch my head and wonder where these same people are and have been for the last 10 years?? There has been a group of young men that single handedly brough ball hockey ball to St. John's and clean the sport up to a point where 7 of the 8 team canada members are playing in their summer league. WIthout these organizers there would be no bal hockey or leagues for players to keep in shape and have a chance to play for their country. I'm willing to bet the farm that not one person from the NL associated even knows where the Metro ball hockey league is operated out of in St. John's. How is this possible when 7 of your home town boys are playing for team Canada?? Geroge Gortsos is a great man and a big contributor to ball hockey Canada, and he has taken recognition to our local ball hockey circuit here in St. John's....I just think he needs to be educated and direct his appreciated to the people who deserve it, not the people in it for the spotlight.

You should also mention the three NL females who play on the women's team.

although I fly the new republic flag, we as pre 49 NEWFOUNDLANDER'S should fly our flag with the NFLD coat of arms on it... I salute the NFLD coat of arms every morning as I enter my shaving cubicle... ralph from Richmond st. .

I had the pleasure of meeting some of the players. Wonderful young athletes a credit to their coaches (and parents).
