The Trapper John’s Shamrocks outlasted Feildians Ellsworth Group 11-6 Sunday to win the second annual Molson Senior Club Baseball Championship at St. Pat’s Ball Park.
Andrew Stockley had two hits and drove in six runs, with the help of a grand slam, to pace the victory which gave the St. John’s club the Ken Dawe Cup.
Dick Collins tossed the win over Adam Hickey.
Alex Walsh had two hits in three at bats for Feildians.
The club tournament also included the Holy Cross Trinity Pub Crusaders and Gonzaga Roebothan Mckay Marshall Vikings of St. John’s, Mount Pearl-based Canada Car Care Knights and the Veitch Physiotherapy Aces, Veitch’s Ultramar Hawks and Westside Monarch out of Corner Brook.
In semifinal play, the Shammies scored the only run of the game in the eighth inning to beat the Knights 1-0.
Bob Kent pitched the win over Mike Janes.
The Feildians advanced to the final with a 10-6 win over the Hawks.
Corey Ewart pitched the win over Frank Humber.
Jeff Sheehan had five hits in five at bats, including three singles, a double and a triple for the winners. Chris Gandon had two hits for the Hawks.
