Sets numerous tournament records at the plate

NL Plumbing Hitmen scored four runs in the fifth inning and went on to double 3Cheers Pub Bud Light 4-2 to win the 33rd annual Molson St. John’s Day softball championship Sunday at Lions Park in a tournament dominated by Brad Ezekiel.
Tournament MVP Ezekiel, who doubled in the final to help the winning cause, was also the tournament’s top batter, going 12-for-16 for a .750 batting average.
Ezekiel set tournament records with 10 runs scored, six home runs, 14 runs batted in and a slugging percentage of 2.188.
Robbie Green hurled the win in the final on a six-hitter with eight strikeouts. Jason Hill took the loss on a six-hitter with seven strikeouts.
Sheldon Keough and Danny Mullins homered for the winners.
Kyle Ezekiel had two hits in four at bats for the losers.
Keough led off the big fourth inning with a solo shot. Scott Dwyer then singled. Tyrone Fewer came on to pinch-run for Dwyer and he advanced to second base on Kenny Gosse’s sacrifice bunt. With one out, Shawn Hefferan singled to score Fewer and Danny Mullins hit a two-out, two-run homer to complete the rally.
The losers scored twice in the seventh inning. Kyle Ezekiel singled and Jason Hill delivered a two-run homer, but that’s as close as 3Cheers would get.
The Hitmen advanced to the final with a 12-4 semifinal win over Don Cherry’s St. John’s.
Greene hurled the win over Donnie King.
Brad Ezekiel hit two home runs for the Hitmen. Geoff Evely had two hits for Don Cherry’s.
3Cheers Pub Bud Light earned a berth in the championship game by beating Kelly’s Pub Molson Bulldogs 8-3.
Jason Hill got the win on a three-hitter with relief help from Doug Marshall.
Sean Cleary took the loss. Donny Cleary and Eric Healey also pitched.
Sheldon Keefe, Matt Hill, Marshall and Jason Hill each had two hits for 3Cheers.
Stephen Strapp had two hits for the Bulldogs.
