SENIOR BASEBALL

Shammies shade Feildians

Redmond Hunt RBI single to score Jeff Gallop from second base in the bottom of the fourth proved to be the winning run as the Trapper John’s Shamrocks edged the Ellsworth Group Feildians 3-2 in St. John’s Molson senior baseball on Tuesday.

At St. Pat’s Ball Park, Bob Kent (2R, 8H, 1W, 5K) went the distance for the win over Alex Walsh (6IP, 3R, 5W, 4K) who gave up just four hits.

Ray Warren had three hits in five trips to the plate for Feildians.

INTERMEDIATE BASEBALL

Hynes goes the distance for Gonzaga

Scott Hynes (7IP, 1R, 7H, 2W) struck out nine and Andrew Paul went two-for-four with four RBI as Gonzaga dumped Holy Cross 7-1 in St. John’s Molson intermediate baseball Tuesday evening.

Andrew Kay (5IP, 7R, 5H, 9W, 2K) took the loss with Kevin Cashin (1IP, 2W, 1K) tossing in relief.

Kurt Vaters and Nick O’Reilly had two hits apiece.

SENIOR SOFTBALL

Cleary strikes out 13 as Bulldogs win

Sean Cleary (7IP, 2R, 3H, 2W) fanned a baker’s dozen and Jon Kelly hit a two-run homer to pace the Kelly’s Pub Molson Bulldogs to a 5-2 win over the Junior Canadians.

Mark Lewis scored once and Shane Boland drove in a pair for the winners.

Mark Power (6.1IP, 5R, 9H, 6W, 7K) took the loss with Johnny Doyle striking out one in two-thirds of an inning of relief.

Doyle, Colin Walsh and Daniel Dalton had the only hits off Cleary.

Don Cherry’s St. John’s 6, NL Plumbing Hitmen 5

Mike Noftall (4IP, 3R, 3H, 5W, 8K) scored, drove in one and picked up the win in relief of starter Ward Gosse (3IP, 2R, 5H, 1W, 5K), who collected his 102 career home with a solo shot.

Joey Maynard also scored and collected an RBI for Don Cherry’s.

Robbie Greene (6.2IP, 6R, 11H, 4W, 9K) took the loss. Brad Ezekiel had a three-run homer for the Hitmen.
