Everson strikes out 16

as BK doubles up on Junior Canadians

Shawn Everson fanned 16 batters and scattered five hits to lead BK Services to 6-3 win over C.B.C. Junior Canadians in Molson St. John’s intermediate softball Monday night at Lion’s Park.

Starter Johnny Doyle (3IP, 4R, 3H, 3W, 5K) took the loss. Eric Healey (3IP, 2R, 3H, 2W, 5K) finished up.

Kevin Fitzpatrick and Sam Oliver had two hits each for Services.

Riley Kenny delivered two hits for Junior Canadians.

Goulds 5, Lafontaine Club Molson 2

Colin Walsh, who picked up the win in relief of starter Mark Power, hit a two-run homer for Goulds. Power had three hits in four at bats and Geoff Stack had two hits in thee trips to the plate.

Matthew O’Reilly (7IP, 5R, 8H, 2W, 5K) homered in taking the loss.

Steven Pittman was Lafontaine’s top batter with three hits in three at bats.

WOMEN’S SOFTBALL

Angels take semifinal,

will meet Dram Kitchens for St. John’s title

Angels outlasted Diamonds 8-6 in St. John’s women’s softball semifinal play Monday at Wyatt Park.

Angels took the best-of-three semifinal 2-0 and will now face Dream Kitchens in the best-of-three final starting Aug. 27

Susan Barry tossed the win over Sami Kennedy.

Barry and Carrie Plester each had two hits for the winners.

Jill Mason had three hits, including a home run for the losers. Kennedy also had three hits and Kaitlyn Harris had two.
