CNL summer league final on Sunday
Cricket Newfoundland and Labrador's T20 summer league finishes up Sunday with the League Cup final at the RCAF Field, off Torbay Road.
Team Red and Team Green will compete for the Atul Ahuja Cup, with the match starting at 1 p.m.
The final marks the conclusion of a successful 15-match league among three teams (Team Blue was the other).
The teams had been created through a seeded draft system aimed at balancing the squads. The success of that effort showed in the final standings, with Team Red finishing in first place with a 6-4 record, with Team Green in second at 5-5 record and Team Blue at 4-6.
Perhaps the most noteworthy individual performance came from Nick Baxter, captain of Team Blue.
Baxter was the top run-scorer in the league with 379 runs, including a century and three other half-centuries. He also was one of his team's top bowlers.
Alex Dias of Team Green averaged over 70 with the bat and took 11 wickets. Suhail Parry of Team Red was the top wicket-taker with 15.
