The Worcester Sharks scored three times in the shootout to pick up the extra point in a 3-2 win over the St. John’s IceCaps Friday night at Mile One Centre.

James Livingston, Sebastian Stalberg and Sena Acolatse beat Eddie Pasquale in the shootout as the IceCaps yet again failed to register back-to-back American Hockey League wins at home.

Nine shooters on each team took their turn before a winner was decided.

Wednesday night, in the start of the three-game series, the IceCaps came away with a 3-2 overtime decision.

Matt Tennyson and Freddie Hamilton scored for the Sharks (4-7-1-0) in regulation time. Scoring for the IceCaps (7-7-1-1) were Jason Jaffray and Jerome Samson.

The game remained scoreless until the second period, when Worcester struck on the power play. Tennyson’s shot from the point got through and past Pasquale just as Eric O’Dell was exiting the penalty box and Kyle MacKinnon was sitting off for two minutes with a delay of game penalty.

At the 11:43 mark, Sharks captain Rob Davison drilled the IceCaps’ Kael Mouillierat into the boards and was assessed a five-minute boarding major and game misconduct.

Thirty-three seconds later, rookie Brenden Kichton sprung Jaffray loose, and the St. John’s captain split the Worcester defence and wired a hard shot over Harri Sateri’s glove for his sixth goal on the year.

Hamilton put the Sharks out in front again, solving Pasquale at 7:16 of the third period after the IceCaps goalie made a couple or three big saves after the Sharks broke out on a two-on-one rush.

That set the stage for Samson, a Shark hunter this week who struck again with the tying goal at 9:50 on a passing play with Andrew Gordon.

It was Samson’s third goal against Worcester this week, and fifth on the year.

The IceCaps outshot the Sharks 29-22. The series wraps up tonight at 7:30 p.m. at Mile One.
