Penguins gain revenge on IceCaps; score 5-2 win over St. John's Saturday

The Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins scored three goals with just over three minutes remaining in regulation time to defeat the St. John’s IceCaps 5-2 in American Hockey League play Saturday night at the Mohegan Sun Arena at Casey Plaza in Wilkes-Barre, Pa.

After Eric O’Dell drew the IceCaps even at 2-2 with his second goal of the game, and ninth on the year, at 13:57 of the third period, Andrew Ebbett tallied what turned out to be the winning goal at the 16:37 mark on a power play.

Zach Sill netted an insurance marker at 16:54, and Jayson Megna scored into an empty net with 17 seconds left in regulation time.

The Penguins scored all five of their goals in the third period. The IceCaps led 1-0 after two periods of play.

Tom Kostopoulos and Bobby Farnham also scored for the winners, who dropped a 2-1 decision to the IceCaps Friday.

The IceCaps outshot the Penguins 31-19. Eric Hartzell registered the win over Eddie Pasquale.
