Pitcher leads Caps past Breakers in AESHL play

St. John's Toyota Plaza Caps built up a 3-0 lead after the first period and coasted to a 4-1 victory over Southern Shore Pugliesvich Breakers Sunday at Southern Shore Arena.

Jacob Pitcher scored twice to pace the Caps who took a 4-1 lead into the third period.

Ryan Whiffen and Shane Sullivan had the other goals for the winners who were outshot 45-35.

Clayton Payne replied for the Breakers.

Northeast 7, Bell Island 4 (Friday)

Shane McGrath scored three times to pace the Eagles’ victory.

James Cadigan and Mason Reid each scored twice for the winners who were outshot 39-33 by Family Drug Mart Blues.

Ryan Power, a recent call up from the CBR Junior Renegades, scored his first senior league goal, while other single markers for the Blues came from Colin Snow, Chad Sullivan and Andrew Coates.

Bronson Dawe made 35 saves in net for the Eagles. Evan Giles had 26 stops for Bell Island.

The Blues took six of the game’s 11 penalties.

    Eagles are the class of the league at 9-1. Wait until they get all their players in the lineup. Chris Ennis will dominate that league with Dan Cadigan and Bronson Dawe. They should be in the Provincial League but Joe won't let them.
