It may have turned out to be a first-place vs last-place matchup, but the game between rinks skipped by Mark Noseworthy and Shawn Adams nevertheless went down to the last rock in Re/Max SuperLeague curling play at the Re/Max Centre (St. John’s Curling Club) Wednesday night.
Trailing 6-5 entering the final end, but with hammer, Adams had a chance for a win on his last rock, but just nicked a guard, leaving Noseworthy with a steal of two and an 8-5 victory.
In other SuperLeague action this week, Stephanie Guzzwell’s rink was busy, going 2-1 in three games — two of them make-ups. Guzzwell (7-4) stayed even in the win column with Noseworthy after a 7-1 win over Stephen Trickett, a 9-3 loss to Andrew Symonds, who had a steal of five in the third end, and a 7-3 victory over Harold Waters.
Symonds got another win in his regularly-scheduled game, downing Jeff Thomas 8-2, while Tim Jones edged Geoff Cunningham 4-3 in another makeup game;
