Mitch King pulled the trigger on four goals as the CBR Assante Wealth Management Renegades evened their Penney Kia St. John’s Junior Hockey League semifinal 2-2 with a 6-5 win over the Avalon Roebothan McKay Marshall Capitals Sunday at the Jack Byrne Arena.
Game 5 in the best-of-seven series goes 8 o’clock Tuesday night at the Goulds Arena.
Josh Taylor and Justin Boland also scored for the winners.
Kristian Hurk netted a pair of goals in a losing cause. John Charles Snow, Zach Tucker and Bobby Squires added singles.
King and Husk were the Jungle Jim’s players of the game.
Mitch Puddester stopped 26 shots for the Renegades. Doug Pippy and Zach Mitchell combined to face 39 shots.
Avalon 4, CBR 3 (Saturday)
The Capitals took a 2-1 lead in their series against the Renegades with a win Saturday at Robert French Stadium in C.B.S.
Mike Cole, Andrew Paul, Alex Robbins and Ben Murphy had the goals for Avalon, which trailed 3-2 entering the third period.
Jonathan Ralph, Brandon O’Neill and Ryan Power replied for the Renegades, who held a 37-34 edge in shots on goal.
O’Neill, who also had an assist, was the Jungle Jim’s player of the game for the home side, while Murphy took the honours for the Caps.
St. John’s 6, Southern Shore 5 OT (Friday)
At the Southern Shore Arena in Mobile, Riley Edwards potted the winner in overtime as the Hickman Automotive Group Caps evened their semifinal with the C&W Offshore Breakers at one game apiece.
Joey Trenholm scored twice for St. John’s, which also got single markers from Justin Walsh, Ryan Perks, Alex Doyle as part of a 63-shot barrage against Southern Shore netminder Alex Campbell.
Edwards, the player of the game for the Caps, had an assist, while Walsh also had a two-point game with his goal and a helper.
Breakers’ player of the game Mitchell Martin had a hat trick, while Dylan Joy and Brandon Baird also scored for Southern Shore.
Scott Bray made 44 saves for Southern Shore.
Game 3 is 8:30 p.m. tonight at the Southern Shore Arena.
