Tyler MacDonald struck out 11 in a complete-game performance and Mike Gregory scored three runs as the Conception Bay South Storm (2-0) doubled Bay Roberts Coors Light 6-3 in Molson St. John's intermediate softball action at Lions Park Saturday.
McDonald (4H, 5W) got the win over Chris Hussey (7H, 1W, 6K), who also went the distance.
Gregory and Zack Pomeroy, who scored twice, each had two hits for the winners, while teammate Travis Rideout had a solo home run,
Johnny Doyle had a two-run homer for Bay Roberts (1-1).
In Saturday's other game at Lions Park, Felix Rogers had two hits, scored two runs and drove in two more for MJR Masonry (1-1).
MJR starter David Kennedy (4IP, 5R, 6H, 2W, 2K) picked up the win, with Murray Preston (0H, 3W, 3K) providing three innings of scoreless relief.
Starter Shane Dobbin (3.2IP, 8R, 8H, 5W) took the loss, while Jordan Noftall (2.1IP, 1R, 3H, 1W 8K) finished up for Game On (0-2).
Daniel Short had two RBIs and Preston contributed two hits for the winners.
